B Unique Millinery Round Up 2023
Posted by Sian Wright on
As we near the end of 2023 we wanted to take the opportunity to reflect on what has definitely been a busy and challenging year. It is fair to say that we are all still feeling the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic in one way or another, with events coming back in 2023 bigger than ever, our clients wanting to be bolder and more daring with their headpieces (though we all enjoy a challenge and chance to be creative!) or equally our clients wanting to save money and re-use/recycle where they can. It has certainly been a year for transformation. We look back on some of the highlights of the year.
March – Millinery Association of Australia meet-up.
Brenda met up with Milliners from across Australia for a good catch up and fantastic lunch, as you can see there was some stunning millinery on display! Looking forward to the next one.
Brenda also managed to meet up with some other lovely milliners for a fantastic day at the races.
2023 Millinery Training at our Peachester Centre
There was plenty of fun and learning with Brenda during our Millinery Retreats in 2023, we met some lovely people who made some equally lovely creations. Plenty more Retreats planned in 2024 – book your place now!
May - The King's Coronation
In May the King’s Coronation took place, and as always, our millinery customers did themselves proud with creations for guests attending the celebrations.
Emma from Meercat Millinery created this beautiful piece for the Honourable Jeanette Young, Governor of Queensland to attend the event.
May – Kentucky Oaks
Our millinery customers are so talented with so many pieces turning head at the major racing events throughout 2023. At Kentucky Oaks our customer Pamela at fabulous Locopa Designs and her beautiful customer Rachel won the Longines Fashion Contest.
June - Royal Ascot 2023
Sian from the B Unique UK Warehouse attended Ladies Day at Royal Ascot in June 2023 (as did quite a few of our millinery customers and their clients). The creations on display were bigger and bolder than ever, an excellent day out hat spotting.
Melbourne Cup – November 2023
Milliners from across the world look forward to the Melbourne cup to show off their creations and hope to win ‘Fashion on the Field’ prizes. There was so much gorgeous millinery on display, here’s one stunning creation made by one of our lovely customers, Mel at Millinery by Mel.
Millinery Competition Winners
March – Lincoln International Millinery Competition
5th Place winner Michelle Cameron chose a bundle of B Unique Millinery Goodies as her prize for her hat makeover entry. Judge Stephen Jones said ‘Nice use of colour and pattern to create a very recognisable shape, it works really well’.
